Body of Bob Arum’s Son, John, Found in Washington Mountains

An aerial helicopter search late Friday afternoon discovered the body of experienced mountain climber John Arum, the 49-year-old son of boxing promoter Bob Arum, a national park spokesperson told FanHouse.

John Arum’s body was found after a five-day search on the 8,500-foot summit of Storm King Mountain in Washington state in the Northern Cascades at a level of 7,700 feet, apparently after a long fall, according to Kerry Olson, of North Cascades National Park.

John Arum was reported missing Sunday following a solo weekend hiking and camping trip. The absence of John Arum, whose backpack was found on Wednesday at the 7,400-foot level of the Storm King Mountain, forced his 78-year-old father to leave a Los Angeles press conference on Tuesday that was the start of a three-city press tour promoting the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito fight on Nov. 13 at Cowboys Stadium.

Fifty personnel from the National Park Service, Chelan Mountain Rescue, Stehekin Community and the King County Sheriff’s Office conducted ground and aerial searches over steep and difficult terrain covering a 1,500-acre search area.

MMANEWS.COM BLOG: The Top 5 Current MMA Blood Feuds

September 4, 2010

The Top 5 Current Blood Feuds

I'm sure this has been done before, but we are going to do it again, taking a look at the top 5 current rivalries and some of the fighters you love to hate. Brock makes this list twice being his warm, personable persona. As fans of MMA, we can look forward to every single one of these happening sometime in the future.

Without further delay, drum roll please:

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen – Dana White stated right after their first fight that there would be a rematch. Not only that, but that would be the next fight for Silva. You need to get out of that dog house Anderson. Sonnen totally controlled the world's best for 4 rounds, until Anderson Silva shocked all those watching on TV and in attendance with the most shocking triangle since Eddie Bravo submitted Royler Gracie at ADCC in 2003. For the most part, Sonnen did exactly what he said he was going to do. He just left out the part about getting submitted with the win already in the bag…

Nick Diaz vs. K.J. Noons – This one has been simmering since all the way back in 2007. Noons being stripped of the Strikeforce belt led to a delayed rematch, but much to the fan's delight, this one is set for October 9th. Since losing to Noons, Diaz has been unbeaten in his last seven. Noon's won the first meeting via TKO due to cuts, but will lose the second showdown getting submitted via a slick triangle. This fight is definitely going to get Strikeforce more press than usual as fans take sides on this one.

Bellator 27 recap: Joe Warren claims belt with stunning knockout win

For the opening five minutes of Thursday’s Bellator 27 main event, the self-described “baddest man on the planet” looked like anything but.

Then came round two.

After getting tagged throughout the first round with lead left hands and nasty right uppercuts, Joe Warren uncorked a powerful barrage of strikes that left former champion Joe Soto unconscious on the floor.

Juan Manuel Marquez-Michael Katsidis Considered For Triple-Header

WBO and WBA lightweight (135 pounds) champion Juan Manuel Marquez (pictured above, at right) could defend his crowns opposite WBO interim king Michael Katsidis in the main event, WBC welterweight (147 pounds) titlist Andre Berto could do the same against mandatory challenger Selcuk Aydin in the co-feature, and WBA super bantamweight (122 pounds) king Celestino Caballero could be the opening in an HBO televised triple-header that is being considered.

Citing multiple sources, BoxingScene.com reported the scenario in the wake of a shakeup in HBO’s schedule that has resulted from certain fall dates being taken away.

Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Marquez (51-5-1, 37 KOs) and Katsidis (27-2, 22 KOs) are slated to meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

One threat to the set up is the prospect of making a palatable purse for Berto, who, with Caballero, was originally considered for an Oct. 2 triple-header.

Karo Parisyan Expected To Fight Dennis Hallman At UFC 123

September 3, 2010

Never say never. Not quite one year since Dana White told the world that Karo Parisyan would never fight in the UFC again via Twitter, "The Heat" tells Ariel Helwani that he has been offered a fight in the UFC at UFC 123 in November against veteran Dennis Hallman.

Parisyan, who suffers from anxiety disorder, was canned after pulling out of fights on short notice twice, at UFC 88 and UFC 106 and in between failed a drug test at UFC 94.

Parisyan told MMAFighting.com that he worked hard to get back in on the good side of the UFC brass and was eventually offered a three-fight deal. View full post on All
